We're a big fan of gorging ourselves on whatever is in season at the moment even if that means we do without it for much of the rest of the year. Right now that means plums. And loads of them. Thanks to a generous friend who gave us a large bag of plums for one measly box of cookies. Though I have a sneaking suspicion she feels like she got the better end of the bargain.
We've had plums on everything: salad, cereal, ice cream, chicken, and just straight up. Plus we made the most delicious plum sorbet. So very sweet with a hint of tartness from the peels and tons of vanilla.
While we've never tried to can anything before, we're going to try our hand at plum preserves.
I hear someone else is interested in giving us some lemons. Yum!
