Let me be more specific. We're running around like maniacs getting everything ready for Farmers' Markets. We can't wait to get out there and get moving, but we'd better be prepared.

So we're no longer open on Saturdays. It's sad and we miss you too. However there are other opportunities. You can still get your gluten free goodies!

You can order from our etsy store. Or give us a call or email and order something to pick up. Check out our menu to see everything you could order.

Otherwise, we hope that you'll stop by the Farmers' Markets when we start them. We'll be in Hillsboro on Saturdays starting on April 30th and at the Cully Community Market Sundays starting June 5th.

Gluten Free Holiday Specials

Gluten Free Yule Log

It's almost Christmas and we're feeling somewhat like elves putting together presents and wrapping up cookies for our friends and family and yours too.

If you're looking for something special for the holidays, we've got your covered.

Yule Logs are a traditional christmas dessert, though in my family we slice it up for breakfast and eat it while we open gifts. It's a gluten free rolled cake, light and spongey, covered in buttercream and with a few meringue decorations.

Holiday Cookies come in all shapes and sizes: stars, christmas trees, and candy canes in this case. Just perfect for decorating. We make the mess and you get the fun.

We also have an array of cookies packaged together in a festive tin. We have shortbread and snickerdoodles, ginger snaps and chocolate chip, and my favorite, pfeffernusse.

We still have pies through the end of the year and we're happy to take special orders.

I know gluten free can be hard at the holidays, with all the visiting and baked goods, but we've got your back. Let us know if we can make your special christmas tradition gluten free.

 

Pies for the Holidays

Really pie is great any day at any time. I will admit to you that I had the last piece of pumpkin pie in our fridge for breakfast. I may have to wait until Thanksgiving to have more pie. But that doesn't mean you have to!

We have gluten free pies available through Christmas. If you would like a pie for Thanksgiving, you should order it now as we already have a number of pie orders for next week and we want to make sure that we can fit you in.

Also, if you must have a pie right now, they're at Food Front. We're dropping off more today and tomorrow and then more next week too.

And we have the cutest pie boxes we've ever seen. So you get a beautiful pie in an adorable pie box, what could be better? Eating leftover pie for breakfast, that's what better.

Cupcakes!

We had our debut event yesterday. It went pretty well on our end, however with the raining constantly all day, there weren't many people walking along 9th Ave enjoying the party.

So your gain! While our cupcakes were a great hit, we have lots left over! If you'd like to pick up gluten free cupcakes from us, we're selling them for $0.75 each (that's 50 cents less than they were yesterday).

Email or call us and then come pick them up from our kitchen space. They will only be available today (Sunday) and tomorrow (Monday).

Plums

We're a big fan of gorging ourselves on whatever is in season at the moment even if that means we do without it for much of the rest of the year. Right now that means plums. And loads of them. Thanks to a generous friend who gave us a large bag of plums for one measly box of cookies. Though I have a sneaking suspicion she feels like she got the better end of the bargain.

We've had plums on everything: salad, cereal, ice cream, chicken, and just straight up. Plus we made the most delicious plum sorbet. So very sweet with a hint of tartness from the peels and tons of vanilla.

While we've never tried to can anything before, we're going to try our hand at plum preserves.

I hear someone else is interested in giving us some lemons. Yum!

Hazelnut Chocolate Chip Cookies

Joe has been talking about these cookies for a month. Thinking about how to incorporate the hazelnut into the batter in just the right way. He actually made three batches of these cookies the other afternoon. The third batch matched what he had in his head. Although I happily ate the first and second batch too.

They might look like just regular chocolate chip cookies, but they have hazelnut flavor infused throughout with the smoothest, nutty aftertaste. Oh and don't forget the chocolate. There are very few things that go together as well as chocolate and hazelnuts.

Angel Food Cake

It's one of those things that we thought we'd seen the end of once going gluten-free. At first, with so many dense foods, we didn't realize that gluten-free could still be light and fluffy.
And angel food cake is at the top of the light and fluffy list.

Joe made this cake to take to a recent family event. The cousin who doesn't like cake had three helpings, the rest of us had two. It was devoured at such speeds to make any accolades unnecessary. It was really good.

With strawberries and whipped cream, light and fluffy angel food cake with just the right sweetness.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Muffins

Extra rich and moist with loads of bananas in the batter and a smattering of ooey-gooey chocolate chips. Entirely gluten-free.

One of the best thing about good gluten-free baking is how it's usually better the second day. And while these are amazing today, when they came out of the oven yesterday, the chocolate chips melted in my mouth and oozed into the warm sugary bananas, it was heaven.

Dark Chocolate Cupcake

Just a dash of chocolate extract to add richness without adding density. Truly delish!
